About First Robotics

FIRST Robotics is an Organization founded by Dean Kamen in 1989 that brings the exciting world of Engineering into the grasp of young kids everywhere. FIRST is not merely about a robotics competition, but more of a way to bring engineering to kids in a fun and interesting way. The First Organization is the foundation for the First Robotics competition, First Lego League, Junior First Lego League, and First Tech Challenge Competitions. First Seeks to promote a philosophy of teamwork and collaboration among engineers and encourages competing teams to remain friendly, and even helping other teams out when necessary. The First program that was created by FIRST was FRC or FIRST Robotics Competition. "Gracious Professionalism" Gracious Professionalism, a term coined by Woodie Flowers, is not just frequently, but always a huge part in every competition FIRST Holds. It reminds us all to treat all of our competitors with respect and keep our actions friendly and helpful. Gracious Professionalism is not just helping a team when they run into challenges, but is also seen everyday in our willingness to help anyone succeed to the best of there ability and lend what ever help we can whenever we can. Dean Kamen often says that "FIRST is not about building robots. At every level of competition FIRST is about getting people involved in engineering in a fun and interesting way."
